Loneliness and Its Effects
Loneliness has always been a painful and disturbing situation whereby you don’t feel connected to others. Humans need to make new friends and acquaintances constantly, which leads to the development of partnerships and friendships. Loneliness is a sign that a basic need, like establishing friendships or developing a special connection, is not met.
If you are lonely, you sometimes need warmth, understanding, and extended to share your feelings and thoughts with others. Loneliness does not necessarily mean being alone. For instance, you can feel lonely when you are in a class with twenty other students, in the middle of a party, at a sports event with hundreds of screaming spectators, or surrounded by family.
Loneliness can mean:
- Feeling that you are unacceptable, unloved by those around you, not worthwhile, even if others don’t share these perceptions; feeling alienated from your surroundings: lacking the attachments you had in the past. Feeling that there is no one to share your concerns and experience.
- Feeling that you are alone and have no other choice. You may find it challenging to make friends or go beyond mere acquaintances. Loneliness to me means no genuine companionship
- There is no one close enough to touch and willing to laugh when I make a stupid joke so I can think I’m funny.
- Loneliness means eating lots of meals alone. One fork hitting one plate every night for several years is a very lonely sound, devastating, and this ruins the best of culinary creations when you match it with a good long stare at the wall in front of you.
- The feeling that you are not wanted. Sometimes you want to be among other people, but you have a sense that keeps you apart and makes you feel unwelcome.
- It sometimes means being afraid that you will never develop whatever it is that lets other people experience how you think or share your ideas or feelings with others, so they can gain or learn from your little experience alone.
The best we can do when we feel lonely is to share our feelings and emotions with others. Practical advice and good direction on the right part could be beneficial because sometimes you need to let others know your feelings or try to get at least one person you can share your mind and thoughts with, or else it might get you into trouble.
The reason is that loneliness can sometimes lead to depression and uncertainty about yourself, life, and the world, so we should avoid being lonely no matter what we go through.
Civilization has made things easy now. If you feel so lonely, try joining social media, making friends, sharing an opinion, and ideas. Be active, and sometimes solutions to your problems could come from there. You might eventually not feel lonely again.
